EIGHT villages in Cebu City received cash prizes and recognition for having an outstanding Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) that helped solve the problem of illegal drugs in their communities.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Cebu City Government recognized seven barangays for having an outstanding anti-drug abuse council and one village for being declared as a "drug-cleared barangay."

Mayor Michael Rama led the distribution of the P100,000 check as an award and recognition to the barangays Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Cebu City Hall.

The barangays that were recognized for having an outstanding Badac were Toong, Sto. Niño, Basak-Pardo, Luz, Sudlon 1, Sudlon 2, and Pari-an.

Meanwhile, Barangay Sto. Niño was also awarded for being a drug-cleared barangay.

Dr. Neila Aquino, the officer-in-charge of DILG Cebu City, said there are already 13 villages in the city that were declared drug-cleared. (IRT)
