BRIGADIER General Bernard Banac has welcomed 429 new police officers in Eastern Visayas as they embarked on a yearlong mandatory training at the regional training center in Tacloban City.

“It is significant to note that today we mark a new beginning as we welcome the new members of the men in blue. I see this as another opportunity to strengthen the police force in Eastern Visayas,” said Banac.

“As we increase our numbers, I am with confidence that we will be able to step up our peacekeeping mission,” he added.

Out of the 1,054 applicants for the calendar year 2021 Unfilled Attrition Quota Recruitment Program, only 429 successfully passed the rigorous process.

At least 297 of them are males while 132 are females.

“Therefore, do not waste the opportunity given to you to serve. Love and appreciate your work. Remain respectful and disciplined,” Banac reminded the recruits while lauding their achievement during the extensive application cycle.

The new police officers will undergo the six-month mandatory training on Public Safety Basic Recruit Course and another six-month Field Training Program. (SunStar Philippines)
