NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, May 23, 2022, that the release of housing assistance for the victims of Typhoon Odette in five localities in the province will start on May 30, 2022 until June 3, 2022.

The assistance worth P91 million from the National Housing Authority (NHA) will be distributed to qualified Negrenses whose residences were destroyed by the typhoon that lashed several parts of the province in December 2021.

Residents of Kabankalan City, one of the localities that was hardly-hit by the catastrophe, will be the first to receive the financial aid.

On May 31, residents of the cities of Cadiz and Victorias will also receive the aid while the financial grant will be distributed to the recipients in towns of Pontevedra and Ilog on June 3.

Each of the recipients will receive P5,000, Lacson said, adding that the distribution of financial aid for the rest of the affected residents in other localities was already calendared.

Lacson earlier explained that the release of the NHA assistance was delayed mainly because the Capitol only received the copy of the line agency’s Memorandum of Agreement on April 20 which unfortunately falls on the election ban period.
