IN A bid to boost the vaccination program against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the province, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, May 23, 2022, that they will set a date for the proposed four-day vaccination drive.

Lacson said he discussed the proposal with Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang and they are yet to identify the exact date.

Lacson, however, said Tumimbang will present to them their new plans this week and as soon as they are ready, they'll be able to schedule the activity.

Lacson emphasized they need the involvement of all inter-local health zones, saying “hopefully, by this week we can already decide when we are going to start."

Based on the Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas situation report, Negros Occidental had already fully-vaccinated 1,061,975 people as of May 18, 2022.

The number of fully vaccinated persons belonging to the general population is at 927,006 or 64.84 percent, while senior citizens are at 134,969 or 50.06 percent, it added.
