THE Office of the Bulig Ini Nga Gugma (Bing) Program of the Bacolod City Government Center has temporarily stopped accepting applications for the medical or burial assistance from the local residents, its official said.

Marlon Solidum, officer-in-charge of Bing Office, said Monday, May 23, 2022, that they stopped accepting the application after the elections mainly because the processing of the documents will take almost a month.

Aside from that, he said, they are unsure whether the incoming administration will also honor the application of the beneficiaries.

“For now, we are facilitating the documents of the recipients for medical and burial assistance who applied before the election banning [period],” Solidum said.

He added that thousands of Bacolodnons already availed the Bing Program with the assistance of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).

Solidum noted that by next week, they can start the cash distribution for the indigent residents who applied for medical and burial assistance and it will be distributed by batch.

“Hopefully, the incoming administration can also offer financial assistance to our indigent residents who really need the help of the city government,” Solidum said.

For now, for those who also want to avail the medical and burial assistance, it depends on the incoming administration if they will be assisted or not, he added.
