Rhinos snap slump with rout of Cheetahs in Elite Basketball Cebu

The Gothong Shipping Lines-Rhinos trampled over the Cheetahs, 113-94, to snap out of their two-game slump in the Elite Basketball Cebu Season 18 on Sunday at the Casals Gym.

The Rhinos put forth a balanced scoring effort with Oliver Sanoy lighting up the Cheetahs’ defense for a double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds to go with five assists.

Former Cesafi Mythical Five guard Shane “The Game” Menina also had a double-double of his own with 24 points and nine assists.

The Rhinos’ versatile big men Edrian Lao and Mark Abadia almost had triple-doubles as well. Lao, the VisMin Cup MVP, flirted had 17 points, 18 boards, and nine dimes, while Abadia, the former Adamson University standout, tallied 16 points, 16 boards, and seven assists.

The Rhinos now hold a 5-2 card while the Cheetahs, which got 32 points from Denzel Tee, remained winless in six outings.

Meanwhile, the Sure Cleaning Solutions-Hogs raised their record to 6-1 with a 106-95 victory over the Wolves. The loaded Hogs got plenty of production from all corners of their team with Monbert Arong, fresh off his unforgettable 109-point performance last time out, scoring 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Former University of Southern Philippines Foundation sniper Roy Quiachon added 19 points and 11 boards, while former Cesafi Mythical Five forward Jerome Silva put up 14 points.

Janjan Villaver added 14 markers and 10 boards while Paolo Georsua had 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Wolves, which dropped to 2-5, got 24 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals from one-time Cesafi MVP Jaybie Mantilla.
