AN 83-YEAR-OLD man drowned in a public beach in Barangay Himensulan, San Francisco, Cebu on Monday morning, May 23, 2022.

Corporal Elijah Pareja identified the victim as Amando Pesquera, a resident of Barangay Puertobello, Tudela, Cebu.

Pareja told SunStar that according to the victim’s family, they were swimming around 9:45 a.m. Monday when they suddenly saw the victim already drowned.

The lifeguard tried to revive the victim, then the Camotes Island Rescue Team arrived and applied first aid to Pesquera.

The victim was rushed to the Camotes District Hospital but he was pronounced dead-on-arrival by the attending physician.

The relatives believe that Pesquera might have experienced cardiac arrest while swimming.
