Customs seizes marijuana hash oil from US shipment

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark recently seized three 1000 milliliters bottles of suspected marijuana hash oil or tetrahydrocannabinol worth P216,000 from a U.S. shipment.

A claimant was later apprehended during an entrapment operation conducted by the BOC and other law enforcement agencies.

The subject shipment arrived on May 9, 2022 from California, USA, said to contain "drinking tea."

The cargo underwent x-ray scanning and physical examination which resulted in the discovery of the illegal drugs.

Samples of the oil were taken to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis.

The agency confirmed the samples are "positive" for tetrahydrocannabinol or marijuana.

District Collector Alexandra Lumontad issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) against the subject shipment for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 (f) of the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863, in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

On May 19, 2022, personnel of BOC and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a controlled delivery operation in Paranaque City, which resulted to the arrest of one claimant.
