COLORFUL and well-decorated kalesas filled the stretches of Capitol boulevard and heritage district in the City of San Fernando on May 20, 2022 as part of the city’s festivity and heritage month celebration.
Thirty kutseros participated in the free tour that aimed to promote the use of kalesa as a traditional means of public transportation as well as its preservation as heritage symbols.
Nearly a hundred individuals were toured around the city center.
Meanwhile, 14 of the kalesas participated in a decor competition, showing the Pyestang Fernandino and heritage month themes in their designs.
Kutseros Marcelino Aquino (partner organization-Barangay San Pedro Youth Council), Carlos Pabalan (partner organization-Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan, Inc.), and Erick Ocampo (partner organization-CSF Muslim Community) emerged as first to third placers, respectively.
Each was given a prize, through the assistance of festival partners, Smart Communications, Inc. and Megaworld Corporation’s Capital Town Pampanga. (PR)
