SOME 40 senior citizens aged 95 years old and above on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, received P100,000 each from the the Provincial Government of Pampanga.

Under Ordinance 647 or the Senior Citizen Code, elderly Kapampangans aged 95 and above and are still alive will be given P100,000 cash incentive.

Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda personally handed the P100,000 check plus a plaque of appreciation for their contribution to the society during a simple ceremony at the Capitol's new legislative building.

In her speech, Pineda underscored the important role of each family member in ensuring the welfare of the elderlies.

“Ibie yu pu ing lugud yu kareng kekayung pengari para lakas ya at ela misasakitan. Kasi pu ikayu ing inspirasyun da. Ikayu pu ing inspirasyun da king pamibie-bie (Give your love to your parents so that they remain strong and healthy. You are their inspiration in life),” Vice Governor Pineda said.

According to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Governor Dennis Pineda emphasized the continued provision of this much financial support to the elderly Kapampangans especially during these unprecedented times of the worldwide pandemic.

Lolo Pio Bagtas, 102 year-old beneficiary from Mexico town, expressed his gratitude for the assistance extended to them.

“Dakal pung salamat kening binye yu pu kekami. Kalambat ku ne pung paninayan ini (Thank you very much for this incentive you gave us. We have been long waiting for this)," Bagtas shared.

It can be noted that the province of Pampanga has been the pioneer of giving P 100,000 cash incentives to centenarians. Before, only centenarians can avail of the program. Later on the ordinance was amended to lower the age of the beneficiaries from 100 to 95 years old.

To date, a total of 340 recipients have already benefited from the said program. (JTD)
