FM's Cabinet was a champion team

Ang you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon, for we are wether white- or copper-skinned (red or pink) we need to sing all the voices of the mountain. Need to paint with all the colors of the wind’-from the song Colors Of The Wind.

AS WE commonly hear. It’s all over but the shouting. The Marcoses will be back in Malacanang on June 1 and possibly after a month, on July 2nd we can hear a choral group in the palace belting a happy birthday song for former first lady Imelda Marcos, the beautiful mom of President Bongbong aka BBM. In my younger years, I had the opportunity meeting close range Mrs. Marcos and the husband of course, President Ferdinand Marcos. On the many speeches I heard, BBM sounds like his dad only less punctuations from the latter. Does the son think like the father? We will discover that in time.

At this early filtering from the news channels, the presumptive president started making selections to form his cabinet. But how does a president form his cabinet and select heads of different agencies? This early BBM already made good picks in the person of Benny Laguesma for the Department of Labor and Employment, Susan "Toots" Ople for the Department of Migrant Workers. Arsenio Balisacan for National Development Authority, Ben Hur Abalos for Department of Interior and Local Govenment lawyer Vic Rodriguez as executive secretary and Vice President Inday Sarah Duterte as education secretary. Let’s wait who will be heading sensitive agencies like the Bureau of Customs and Bureau of Internal Revenue.

It was an enviable Marcos cabinet. His executive secretaries were Alex Melchor, Rafael Salas and Ernesto Maceda among others. Secretary of Local Government was Jose Rono from Samar, Natural Resources Secretary Jose Leido was from Mindoro, Press Secretary Francisco ‘Kit’ Tatad is from Catanduanes, Labor Secretary Blas F. Ople was from Bulacan. Vicente Abad Santos, Ricardo Puno and Estelito Mendoza all served as justice secretary. They are all Capampangan.

Carlos P. Romulo of Tarlac was Foreign Affairs secretary. Ernesto Mata of Ilocos was Defense Secretary, and was followed by Juan Ponce Enrile of Cagayan. Sonny Escudero of Sorsogon was agriculture secretary.Finance Secretary was Cesar Virata. There were more people who were all qualified to be in the cabinet. It was a champion team.
