THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Davao Region served a total number of 2,464,213 people under the Service Contracting Program Phase 3 as of May 24, 2022.
The data provided is from both “Libreng Sakay” (Free Ride program) and Net Service contracting that has registered a ridership count within Davao Region.
LTFRB said they have 49 total routes under the program. Public utility buses (PUB) account for 21 routes and are serviced by 226 units; traditional utility van express (TUVE) with eight routes and 124 units; traditional public utility jeepney (TPUJ) with 20 routes, and 300 units.
Of the total routes, Libreng Sakay has around 21 routes with 226 units, while TUVE serving under the program covers eight routes and 119 units. The Net Service Contracting has only 20 routes served by 300 units for TPUJ and one route for TUVE with five units.
LTFRB routes in Davao City downtown area in the Mandug to SPMC and vice versa, San Pedro St. to Mandug and vice versa, Acacia (Indangan)- JP Laurel- Bankerohan loop, Toril-SPMC via Quimpo Blvd. and vice versa, Toril-SPMC via Libby Road/Diversion, Lasang -Quirino Loop and Toril- Downtown Davao loop.
On the other hand, the Southbound route is from Davao City - Digos City and vice versa, Davao City - Malita and vice versa, Digos City - Bansalan and vice versa, Davao City - Buda and vice versa.
Meanwhile, Northbound route are in Davao City to Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Davao City to Mati City, Davao Oriental, Davao City to Kapalong, Davao de Oro, Davao City to Laak, Davao de Oro, Tagum City to Laak, Davao de Oro, Davao City to Nabunturan, Davao de Oro, Davao City to Compostela Valley, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro to Maragusan, Davao de Oro, Tagum City to Sawata (San Isidro, Davao del Norte), Davao City to New Bataan, Davao de Oro and Davao City to Monkayo, Davao de Oro.
“The nationwide Program will run until June 30. We have not received any amendments for the extension of the Program,” LTFRB Regional Director Nonito Llanos said.
The Service Contracting Program aims to help operators and drivers' livelihood that has been affected by the covid-19 pandemic, and the ongoing oil price hike. Through this program, the government will pay the participating operators and drivers based on the number of trips they run per week.
The Healthcare Workers (HCW) and Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) also availed the said service.
Nationwide, LTFRB said they have served a total of 61,358,649 through the Service Contracting Program Phase 3, from April to May 23, 2022.
