THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is pouring in about P10 million for the repair of the Teresita J. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City and Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City.
Both medical institutions were damaged by Typhoon Odette in December 2021.
Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz II said that the provincial government has been focusing its resources in helping local government units (LGUs) rebuild their major infrastructures like hospitals.
"Now is the time for the province to focus on its infrastructures also hit by the typhoon," Diaz said.
Aside from these hospitals, repairs for the Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City as well as the Capitol-operated Negros Residences and Negros First Food Terminal, all located in Bacolod City, are also underway after these structures were also damaged by the typhoon, he said.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has formed five teams to conduct an inventory of all properties of the province in compliance with the circular issued by the Commission on Audit, Diaz also said.
The teams will conduct inspection on specialized fields like transportation, information technology, communication equipment and machineries like generator sets, cooling systems, air-conditioning systems and mechanical equipment.
"We want to focus on those fields while the others will focus on the general areas to expedite the work," the provincial administrator said.
He added that they aim to put up a management information system on all movable and non-movable properties of the provincial government.
With that, Diaz said, the departments will no longer wait and request for an upgrade of new properties especially computers as their state is already recorded in the data bank.
Each department has two representatives to do the inventory and a team will be assigned to visit them to hasten the process.
The inventory will cover all properties purchased and donated to the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, he added.
