THE Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas has sent its Regulations Licensing and Enforcement Division (RLED) personnel to the Toledo City General Hospital following reports about the death of a mother and her baby.

The mother and child reportedly died due to medical negligence committed by some health personnel of the Toledo City General Hospital.

The Toledo City General Hospital has vowed to conduct a thorough investigation on the matter.

DOH-Central Visayas Director Jaime Bernadas told SunStar Cebu that he has not yet received any communication regarding the incident, but added that he will check with the regulations divisions for any progress reports.

Bernadas said the RLED will talk with the management of the Toledo City General Hospital about the processes and protocols, since that is under their oversight and regulatory control.

"Personal and professional issues are to be directed to the appointing authority and PRC (Professional Regulatory Commission)," he said when asked what would be the DOH's action once the accusation against the hospital management is proven to be true. (MKG)
