SOME 41agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) received 16.7365 hectares of land in a Certificate of Land Ownership Award (Cloa) Distribution Ceremony held in Toboso town recently.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Renante Enem, who spoke at the activity, urged the new landowners to continue to cultivate the lands they till to attain bountiful harvest.

"As new landowners, be more responsible. Do not engage in any form of lease and please remember your tax obligations as well," he told farmer-beneficiaries.

The landholding was formerly owned by the M&L Agriculture and Industrial Corp. situated at Barangay Bug-ang in the northern Negros Occidental locality.

The DAR, through land acquisition and distribution (LAD) under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (Carper), distributed the land.

Under its mandate, public and private agricultural landholdings are acquired by the government to be distributed to tenants, farmers, farmworkers and other tillers who are qualified to become ARBs in the form of Cloas covering one contiguous tract or several parcels of land cumulated up to a maximum of three hectares per ARB.

DAR-Negros Occidental I said protocols were put in place during the distribution amid the prevailing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic. (With PR)
