AS THE rainy season officially sets in, the local government of San Simon is preparing for intervention and response in case of flooding.
San Simon Mayor Abundio Punsalan, Jr. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, that sheet piling and riprapping of Pampanga Riverside has been implemented as early as last year to ensure the safety of the community and infrastructure along the area.
He added that he already ordered the preparation of school classrooms that will be converted into evacuation centers if needed.
“Nagreready na rin kami ng mga sandbags upon the request ng aming mga kapitan para kapag tumataas na ang tubig, meron kaming isasangga para hindi tumaas ang tubig,” Punsalan said.
Aside from this, Punsalan said they are already preparing relief goods that will be distributed to those who will be affected by disasters.
“Itong mga kanal at drainages namin, regular naman na nalilinisan para maiwasan ang pagbara ng tubig at mabawasan ang posibleng pagbaha lalo na sa mga daanan,” he said.
