A SECURITY guard was arrested for allegedly molesting a minor in Sitio Fatima, Barangay Jubay, Liloan town, northern Cebu on Thursday evening, May 26, 2022.
Master Sergeant Girlie Echaluce of the Women and Children's Protection Desk of Liloan Police Station identified the suspect as Fermen Abear, 38, a security guard from Queen Capila Agency, and a native of Argao town in southern Cebu but currently residing in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City.
Echaluce told SunStar Cebu that the mother called for help around 10:50 p.m. Thursday after her 12-year-old daughter was allegedly molested by the security guard of an apartment where they reside.
The victim claimed that at 10:05 p.m. Thursday, the security guard touched her eyebrows, shoulders and arms near her breast and said that he liked her.
She said the security guard also invited her by saying, "Adto ta sa kakahoyan na (Let's go to the woodland)," prompting her to report the incident to her mother, who was tending her food stall nearby.
Echaluce said the mother was working daily in her food park stall, leaving her daughter alone in the apartment.
The policewoman said the mother would always tell her daughter to lock the door and to not entertain somebody she does not know before she would leave the house.
Meanwhile, the minor victim is undergoing psychological debriefing and cognitive behavioral therapy to overcome the trauma that she experienced.
Echaluce said the mother is still waiting for her daughter's assessment result before she would file a case against the suspect.
Echaluce added that the suspect admitted his wrongdoings during the investigation.
The suspect is currently detained at the Liloan Police Station. (GDC, TPT)
