ESNETH Domingo won’t leave his fate in the hands of the judges as he eyes a knockout finish on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Domingo is slated to fight a 10-rounder against South African prospect Nhlanhla Tyirha at East London International Convention Center in South Africa.

“I have no choice but to gun for a knockout. There’s no chance that I’ll win here if the fight goes the distance,” Domingo told SunStar Cebu.

Domingo, 23, is looking for his fifth straight win in just his second fight in international soil.

“I will give my best in this fight. I won’t underestimate him,” said Domingo.

Tyirha, 22, is a very promising up-and-comer. Despite only having six fights in the pro ranks, Tyirha is already ranked No. 6 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and No. 7 by the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Tyirha is a winner of back-to-back contests, beating Pinoys Joey Canoy and Jaysever Abcede, both by unanimous decision.

Tyirha’s only career loss is a unanimous decision defeat against former world champion Nkosinathi Joyi in 2019.

Domingo is coming off a huge win over once world ranked Jesse Espinas, who he beat by unanimous decision last Feb. 22 in Gen. Santos City.

Domingo is 16-1 with eight knockouts, while Tyirha is 6-1 with two knockouts.

Even though the odds are stacked up against Domingo, he is confident that he’ll walk away with his hands raised.

“I won’t allow myself to be beaten,” he said. “I didn’t travel this far just to lose.”
