‘Chikiting Bakunation Days’ launched

THE City Health Office launched a four-day routine and catch-up immunization to immunize 50,296 children zero to 23 months old.

Dubbed as “Chikiting Bakunation Days” started Thursday, May 26, until Friday, May 27 and from June 23 and 24 or the last Thursday and Friday of the months of May and June.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led the launching of the Chikiting Bakunation on Thursday, May 26, at the Doña Isabel Climaco Health Center in Sta. Maria village.

Salazar urged parents to have their children vaccinated against preventable diseases under the routine and catch-up program.

Vaccines to be administered include bacillus calmette–guerin, hepatitis B, pentavalent, oral polio, inactivated polio vaccine, pneumococcal conjugate vaccine and measles, mumps, rubella vaccine.

The immunization is at the health centers in different villages of Zamboanga City.

Medical teams from the City Health Office will also do house-to-house campaigns and other strategies to reach out to all those who have missed out immunization or are yet to receive the vaccines. (SunStar Zamboanga)
