THE Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) saw an increase of at least P1-million in revenue for the first four months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

According to DCOTT head Aisa Usop on May 26, the January 2022 revenue of DCOTT is P3,523,742 compared to the P2,493,427 in the same period in 2021.

The same was also noted for the months of February to April which had an average revenue of P2 million in 2021 and increased to over P3 million this year.

“Naay pag increase when it comes to figures na more than one million every month (We saw an increase of at least P1 million every month),” Usop said during a radio interview.

However, revenue during pre-pandemic years is still significantly higher with an average of P5 million every month.

Usop said over P1 million is still needed monthly to reach the pre-pandemic income of DCOTT.

Currently, DCOTT is regularly operating with more than 600 bus trips per day en route to different destinations north and south of Davao City, including a few places in the Visayas such as Leyte, Tacloban, and Bohol.

In fact, DCOTT saw a peak during the election weekend from May 6 to 8, 2022 which reached around 1,300 to 1,500 bus trips per day. Usop told SunStar Davao it was the highest number of bus trips during an election season.

With this progress, Usop hopes to surpass the annual revenue of P32 million in 2021 and P21 million in 2020.

"Hopefully for this year, year 2022, kung dili man nato mareach ang (even if we don’t reach) P70 million, mutaas pa gyud siya (it will still increase) no more than P32 million, the income that we had last year,” she said.

In 2019 just before the outbreak of the coronavirus, DCOTT reached a record-breaking income of P70 million in a year. (With PR)
