A 27-year-old male helper was mauled by his three neighbors after making a "dirty finger" sign in Sitio Danao 1, Barangay Valencia, Carcar City on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., May 26, 2022.
Harrison Abapo Abendan, 27, single, was brought to the hospital after sustaining wounds in the different parts of the body, including head and knees.
His attackers Jason Berallo Navarro, Meljhon Bacalso Lapinid, both 19 years old, and Meljhon's father Francisco, 47, a construction worker, were arrested by the police.
Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of Carcar City Police Station, told Sunstar Cebu that the suspects and the victim had long been at odds due to a lot issue and on Thursday, they again engaged in a verbal tussle.
In the middle of their confrontation, Abendan made a middle finger gesture, which earned the ire of Francisco.
"Nasuko si Francisco Lapinid, kay nag fuck you fuck you daw niya ang biktima, sa kalagot ilang gisulong sa tindahan (Francisco Lapinid got mad as the victim shouted fuck you, fuck you at him, prompting them to confront the latter at the store," Cabagnot said.
The suspects then helped each other maul the defenseless victim, who then called the police for assistance.
The police later arrived and nabbed the suspects.
Francisco admitted to the police that he got mad at Abendan for making a middle finger gesture as he shouted fuck you, fuck you at them.
The suspects will be facing charges of slight physical injury. (GPL, TPT)
