THE Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) has reminded responsible gun owners to renew their gun licenses to avoid being fined or sued.

Lieutenant Colonel Franco Rodulf Oriol, MCPO deputy director for operations, reiterated that gun owners must religiously renew their gun permits to avoid facing charges and the risk of arrest.

In their recent “Oplan Katok” operation on Thursday, May 26, 2022, the MCPO had collected 31 loose firearms surrendered to them by a security agency in Guizo, Mandaue.

Oriol urged gun owners to renew their guns’ licenses before these would expire to avoid inconvenience.

Under section 19 of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, all types of licenses to possess a firearm shall be renewed every two years. Failure to renew the license on or before the date of its expiration shall cause the revocation of the license and of the registration of the firearm/s under said licensee.
