Over P95,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod City

OVER P95,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate buy-bust operations of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in the city Saturday, May 28.

The operations also led to the arrest of Sherly Villanueva, 54, of Barangay 2; Joel Go, 32, and Jerry Lozada, 47, both of Barangay 8; Roberto Magbilla, 54, of Barangay 14; and Gilbert Lorda, 49, of Barangay Handumanan, all in Bacolod City.

BCPO records showed that Villanueva, Go, Magbilla, and Lozada were arrested in joint operation by operatives of Police Station 2 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas at Purok Narra Baybay in Barangay 2 around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police recovered from the suspects' possession eight sachets of suspected shabu weighing 12 grams with an estimated market value of P81, 600, the P500 marked money and drug paraphernalia.

About five hours later, Lorda was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 10 in Purok NGO Village, Barangay Handumanan with nine sachets of suspected shabu weighing two grams with an estimated market value of P13, 600 and the P500 marked money.

Meanwhile, PDEA-Western Visayas dismantled a suspected drug den and arrested five persons in Purok Tahong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City past 5 p.m. on Friday, May 27.

PDEA also arrested Jose Siancua Sarno, Mary Jellyn Runa Sarno and Alvin De Los Reyes Macaranas, all residents of Barangay 2; and Jheyvee Banico Bunda and Jose Jay Runa Sarno, both residents of Barangay Bata

Recovered during the operation were several sachets of suspected shabu weighing 15 grams with an estimated market value of P102,000, the marked money used, and drug paraphernalia.

PDEA records showed that Jose Siancua Sarno was identified as the suspected drug den maintainer in the barangay.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of the PDEA and are facing charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11 and 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
