4 Pinoy boxers fight in Japan

IT WILL be the Philippines vs. Japan on June 13, 2022, as four Pinoy fighters are facing Japanese opponents at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Veteran Harmonito dela Torre leads the Filipinos as he takes on former regional champion Masayoshi Nakatani in a 10-round bout.

Dela Torre won his last two fights since losing his only other trip to Japan in 2019. He was stopped by Suichiro Yoshino via a first round technical knockout in a regional title fight. His last two contests were stoppage wins over Richard Betos and Renan Portes.

Nakatani, on the other hand, lost his last fight against Ukrainian superstar Vasyl Lomachenko via a ninth round stoppage in 2021 in Las Vegas. Nakatani has also fought the likes of Teofimo Lopez and Felix Verdejo.

Dela Torre is 22-3 with 14 knockouts, while Nakatani is 19-2 with 13 knockouts.

In the undercard, Juanito Paredes (9-7-1, 4 KOs) trades leathers with unbeaten Mikito Nakano (5-0, 4 KOs) in an eight-rounder; Jason Buenaobra (8-6-3, 3 KOs) locks horns with undefeated Katsuya Fukui (3-0, 2 KOs) in an eight-rounder; and John Mark Tihuk (6-1-2, 2 KOs) is up against Subaru Murata (1-0, 1 KO) in a six-round contest.
