POLICE operatives have arrested a high-value suspect and seized some P340,000 worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, an official announced Monday, May 30, 2022.
Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspect as Omar Mahing, 21, a resident of Luukbongsod village, Hadji Muhtamad, Basilan province.
Lorenzo said Mahing was arrested by a joint team of policemen from ZCPO’s Station 4 and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) in a buy-bust operation around 5:24 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Josephine Silos Drive in Zone 1 village, Zamboanga City.
He said the suspect was arrested in possession of some 40 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000, a sling bag, 100 pieces of P1,000 bill as boodle money topped with one genuine P500 as marked money.
Lorenzo said the suspect was detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is set to be filed against him.
He commended the operatives of the ZCPO’s Station 4 and CDEU for the successful arrested of the suspect, tagged as a high-value drug personality.
Lorenzo said the ZCPO will continue its anti-illegal drug campaign to possibly eliminate all forms of illegal drugs and apprehend high-value individuals. (SunStar Zamboanga)
