THE Cebu City Police Office has identified the suspects in the shooting dead of two persons in two separate incidents in the city on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
A man called Nickie was tagged as responsible in the killing of Jonas James Cabijar of Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City, who was shot dead in Barangay Guadalupe.
The police were looking into the drug angle as possible motive in the killing of Cabijar, who according to his aunt, had just been released from the Cebu City jail.
The second victim identified as Rexter Leonardo Añora was shot dead in Barangay Carreta.
Police said they have already identified the perpetrator of Añora but refused to reveal his real identity so as not to preempt the outcome of their investigation.
Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said they already created a tracker team to go after the suspects.
But Rafter said that the series of criminal incidents was an isolated case and has not affected the peace and order situation in the city.
“Dili na hulga sa (This is not a threat to) peace and order kay (because) these are all isolated cases and we have already identities nianing mga suspetsado (of the suspects) and we will immediately file the necessary charges,” Rafter said.
The CCPO warned that they would arrest those caught carrying firearms outside of their residence as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban is still in effect until June 8. (AYB, TPT)
