THE position to be vacated by Bacolod City councilor-elect Jason Villarosa as Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman in Barangay Sum-ag will be occupied by the number one SK kagawad effective June 30, 2022.

This was stressed Monday, May 30, by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bacolod Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag after Villarosa won the May 9, 2022 elections.

Madayag said Villarosa, along with other candidates who won during the just-concluded elections, will assume their post at 12 noon of June 30.

The SK is composed of a chairman, seven members, a secretary and a treasurer.

Madayag said it is up to the SK officials of Barangay Sum-ag if they will replace another SK kagawad once the number one kagawad assumes the post of Villarosa.

She said they will conduct another schedule of training for the elected SK officials in Bacolod City that will be held before the barangay election.

Aside from the SK, she added, the newly elected officials (NEO) or first-term officials are also required to attend a seminar in Western Visayas after they have assumed their posts.

Meanwhile, Madayag said they will also supervise the transition teams of outgoing Mayor Evelio Leonardia and mayor-elect Alfredo Benitez.

She said the turnover should be held at 12 noon of June 30 since they will assume their posts on July 1.

"They have already coordinated with us regarding the turnover and both sides are now preparing their documents," she added.

City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan earlier said that they are all working together (for the transition) and they are preparing all the things to be turned over to the incoming administration.

Bayatan said the transition team will be led by Leonardia with the two appointed officials as focal persons -- the city legal officer and the city administrator.

Also, Benitez earlier created its transition team led by reelected Bacolod Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya.
