The San Juan Knights put an end to Valenzuela Xur Homes Realty Inc.’s three-game winning streak with a dominant 90-74 victory in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Season 4 on Monday night at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The game, though, was marred by a spitting incident near the end of the second period. With 1:08 to go before halftime, San Juan assistant coach Yong Garcia was caught spitting on Valenzuela wingman Lordy Casajeros, which resulted in his ejection.

That incident did little to hinder the Knights as they went on to dominate the second half and even their record up at 1-1. Valenzuela dropped to 3-2.

Macky Acosta led San Juan with 18 points while Michael Calisaan added 15 markers and six boards. Jammer Jamito chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds even as Mon Abundo tallied 12 points and six assists.

Patrick Jan Cabahug and Ronjay Buenafe had 15 points apiece for Valenzuela.

Meanwhile, in the first game, Pasig defeated the Mindoro Tams, 87-75, to improve to 1-1.

Tonton Peralta scored 23 points to lead the way for Pasig.

Mindoro, on the other hand, fell to 1-1.
