FORMER president now Second District Representative-elect Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has given one advice to incoming president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. nearly a month before he officially assumes his post as the country’s chief executive.
“Ang parating sinasabi ko napakagaling ng mga advisers nila, ang importante ay gawin kaagad. Speedy implementation lang,” she said.
Arroyo expressed confidence on the plans of Marcos’s appointed Department of Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno in addressing the effects of Covid-19 and Russia-Ukraine war to the economy.
“Si Ben Diokno ay isang magaling na ekonomista kaya more or less alam natin na ang mga solusyon nila sa post-Covid recession at Ukraine-caused inflation ay tama at ang importante lang ay ma-carry-out agad,” she said.
Among the priority programs eyed by Marcos is the funding of an economic stimulus measure that will help those severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dubbed as “Bayan Bangon Muli” stimulus program, the program intends to allocate funds for investment-led expenditures that will bring profits to the government, Marcos said.
Arroyo’s advice came after Marcos sought her guidance for leadership at the sidelines the latter’s recent proclamation at the House of Representatives.
“You have to guide me through this. I've never been through this," said Marcos shortly before his official proclamation on May 25.
During the campaign period, Arroyo is among those who actively showed support and campaigned for the tandem of Marcos and vice president-elect Sara Duterte.
