AT LEAST two individuals were arrested, while their cohort escaped after they allegedly stole a welding machine from a construction warehouse in Barangay Poblacion, Alcoy town, southern Cebu on Wednesday morning, June 1, 2022.

Corporal Joseph Quilaton, desk officer of Alcoy Police Station, identified the suspects as Reynold delos Santos, 30, and Alvin Lapore, 18, both residents of Barangay Pasol, Alcoy.

Quilaton told SunStar Cebu that around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, the personnel of Alcoy Police Station were having a roving mobile patrol when a driver of a fish carrier approached them and told them about the welding machine that the suspects were going to sell to him.

The two suspects were later nabbed in their homes, while their cohort eluded arrest.

During police interrogation, Quilaton said the suspects admitted to the crime since they have no other source of income to provide for their needs.

Quilaton said that Delos Santos is a known thief in their area and has been going in and out of jail.

Danilo Tamayo, caretaker of Sarmiento Construction Warehouse, revealed that the stolen heavy duty welding machine is worth P17,000.

Quilaton said the caretaker was willing to file a case against the suspects, which was scheduled on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

The suspects will be facing charges for theft. (GDC, TPT)
