A POLICEMAN and his cohort who were caught stealing cable wires would still have to remain in jail after failing to post bail for their temporary release.

SSg. Joel Superales Soliva, 37, and Peter Lou Catulog Bantilo, 23, were caught stealing the cable wires of a telecommunications company in Guadalajara, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Seized from them were 4.5-meter cable wires estimated to be worth around P50,000.

A criminal case has been filed against Soliva and Bantilo.

Soliva will also be facing administrative proceedings by the Philippine National Police, according to Major Angelo Acupinpin, chief of the operations branch of the Cebu City Police Office.

Soliva was assigned at the Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7).

PRO 7 Director Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega earlier issued a directive to all policemen in Central Visayas not to resort to illegal activities to avoid being sacked.

Acupinpin said Vega would not defend his men who committed an offense. (TPT)
