SOME 50 drug personalities were arrested and about P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu were seized in 42 drug buy-busts in Bacolod City in May, local police records showed.

Of the 50 arrested drug personalities, 34 were drug pushers and 16 were drug users.

All of them were already charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

For the same period, about 39 persons with pending arrest warrants were arrested, including 13 most wanted persons and 26 other wanted persons charged with various offenses.

In its campaign against loose firearms and the continuous information drive on the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Katok program on annual verification of firearms, it seized 10 loose firearms.

In the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling, the local police conducted a total of 12 operations against violation of Republic Act 9287 that led to the arrest of 44 individuals.

The police also recovered a total of P2, 481 bet money and all cases were filed in courts against the violators.

BCPO Director Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, in a statement, commended the operating units and its personnel for a “job well done” in their relentless effort to stop all forms of criminality.

He also reminded the BCPO personnel to be always motivated to do their job to make Bacolod City safe and peaceful amid the present pandemic caused by coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
