THE Province of Guimaras has again passed the Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) standards of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The Municipality of Sibunag, likewise, achieved the same feat.
The result was released by the DILG on May 27, 2022.
Governor Samuel T. Gumarin said he is honored by the endowment as this is a clear proof of his transparent governance.
"Nagapasalamat ako sa Department of Interior and Local Government sa pagkilala sa probinsiya sang Guimaras. Pamatuod lang ini nga wala naton ginaabusaran ang paggamit sang pondo sang gobyerno," he added.
Good Financial Housekeeping recognizes the practice of the local government Units (LGUs) of financial transparency and accountability and instituted public reporting of the budget and expenditure of local governments.
All local governments in the country are assessed based on Accountable Governance, Transparent Governance, Frontline Service Performance, and Participatory Governance.
GFH is one of the factors being considered for an LGU to pass the first core area of SGLG, which is Financial Administration.
LGUs who got the seal have access to the Performance Challenge Fund, a support fund utilized for local development initiatives for the advancement of national government goals and strategic thrusts. (PR)
