A FORMER New People’s Army (NPA) has received an award as the Best Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division (ID).
The Best CAA awardee is Reynaldo Olanon, a former member of the defunct HQ Kalaw of the NPA’s Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC).
Major General Generoso Ponio, 1ID commander, said that Olanon surrendered to the military in 2020 and decided to serve the government as a member of the militia force.
Ponio said General Andres Centino, Armed Forces chief-of-staff, personally handed over the Plaque of Recognition to Olanon on Wednesday, June 1, during the 86th founding anniversary of the 1ID.
The 86th year founding anniversary of the 1ID was anchored on the theme “86 years of unwavering service to the nation.”
Brigadier General Leonel Nicolas, 102nd Infantry Brigade commander, lauded Olanon for his remarkable dedication to duty and unwavering support to the peace efforts of the government to end the communist insurgency in Zamboanga Peninsula. (SunStar Zamboanga)
