THE Spectrum Runners Club stamped their class and snagged five championship titles in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Run For A Cause at the Cebu City Sports Center on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Jerome Casinillo crossed the finish line in 34 minutes and 25 seconds to bag the men’s 10-kilometer crown, while Spectrum teammate Asia Paraase clocked in 43:56 to win the women’s 10K diadem.

Kenyan Joseph Mururi finished second with a time of 35:15 and Florendo Lapis, also from the Spectrum team, came in third in 35:37.

The women’s side had a 1-2 finish for team Spectrum as Lizane Abella finished next to Paraase with a time of 45:37.

Jesry Cruz of Spectrum Dumaguete won the 5K crown in 19:00, while teammate Rinmarch Gonzaga was three seconds behind for second place.

Veteran runner Cherry Andrin topped the women’s 5K race finishing at 21:54. Spectrum’s Evamie Villarin settled for second at 23:50 and Jasrine Noval took third place at 24:00.

Just like in the 10K race, Spectrum runners dominate the 3K competition as Mark Mahinay and Ysabel Baldos topped their respective divisions.

Mahinay was hailed the men’s champ with a time of 10:03 and Baldos ruled the distaff side in 14:34.

The run, organized by the DepEd-Cebu City Division with Joel Juarez of Coco Running as race director, was aimed to raise funds to repair damaged school buildings due to Typhoon Odette, which badly hit the Visayas region in December last year.
