FOR shooting and wounding two eatery workers earlier this week in Bacolod, frustrated murder charges were filed against a man before the City prosecutor’s office on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Station 9 commander, Junjie Liba, said Sunday that the charges were filed against Rommel Castillo, of the city’s Barangay Cabug, who was arrested in Himamaylan City in a follow-up operation a few hours after he committed the crime.

Castillo reportedly shot Michael Diopeta, 28, and Jemar Berja, 42, both residents of Barangay Sum-ag and co-workers of his wife, whose name the police did not disclose.

Investigation showed the victims were having a drinking session inside the eatery when the suspect along with his unidentified companion arrived and looked for his wife.

When he failed to find her, he instead shot Diopeta and Berja, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were brought to the South Bacolod General Hospital.

Liba said Castillo, who is detained at the station’s custodial facility, denied that he was accompanied by another man when he committed the crime. (MAP)
