DENR holds paralegal training on forestry

THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has conducted last week a two-day paralegal training on forestry and other environment and natural resources related law to strengthen its forest protection.

Rosevirico Tan, DENR information officer, said that the training was participated by around 45 selected personnel of the Provincial and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices and enforcement section of the DENR regional office.

“The two-day activity aims to strengthen forest protection and to increase efficiency on law enforcement through capacitating knowledge in different forestry laws and other ENR (environment and natural resources) related laws and rules,” Tan said.

Among the ENR related laws they tackled during the training were Republic Act 9147 otherwise known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act; R.A. 9175 or Chain Saw Act of 2002; and, R.A. 9072 or National Caves and Cave Resources Management and Protection Act.

They also discussed about a briefer on Philippine Mining Laws; Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018; Importance of Case Build-up; and, other Forestry and ENR Related Laws.

The resource speakers of the two-day training included top officials of DENR and its concerned bureaus.

The two-day training was conducted in line with the celebration of the Philippine Environment Month which is anchored on the theme: “Aksyon Para Sa Natatanging Mundo.”

The activity was held at Mount Timolan Protected Landscape in Limas village, Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur. (SunStar Zamboanga)
