LAWYERS Pacifico Maghari III and Karol Joseph Chiu will be the incoming city administrator and secretary to mayor of incoming Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez, respectively.

Benitez’s spokesperson Lyzander Dilag said Maghari and Chiu are also part of the transition team of the incoming city’s chief executive.

He said Benitez will also soon announce the names of other key officials that will work with him as the latter assumes his post on June 30, 2022.

Maghari served as an executive assistant for finance of the mayor of Talisay City since 2016, and concurrent head of the Talisay City Housing Authority since 2019, while Chiu was also a former staff of Bacolod Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya.

Benitez, in his Facebook post, said that the roles of a city administrator include, but not limited to, developing plans, strategies and implementing the same upon approval thereof by the city mayor.

He said the city administrator will also assist in the coordination of the work of all the officials of the local government unit, establish and maintain a sound personnel program of the local government unit.

The city administrator will also be in the frontline of the delivery of administrative support services especially those related to man-made and natural disasters and calamities and perform duties and functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance, Benitez said,as he called for support for the incoming city administrator.

As a secretary to the mayor, Chiu, meanwhile, shall take charge and be in custody of all records and documents of the city, its offices and departments.

Benitez said Chiu shall keep the corporate seal and affix the same with his signature to all ordinances and resolutions signed by the mayor and all other official documents and papers of the government as may be required by law or ordinance.

Also, he shall attest all executive orders, proclamation, ordinances and resolutions signed by the mayor and shall perform such other duties as the mayor may require of him, among others.

Upon his acceptance of his role, he said that "the goal is to assist Mayor Albee in bringing meaningful change for a better Bacolod.”
