Police nabbed in anti-drug sting

A POLICEMAN was arrested in an anti-drug operation late Monday, June 6, 2022, in Zamboanga City, a top police official said Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspect as Police Patrolman Carl Anthony Burgas Tabo-Tabo, a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) with temporary status.

Lorenzo said that Tabo-Tabo was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 11:33 p.m. in San Jose Gusu village.

He said that Tabo-Tabo, a resident of Sitio Ilang-Ilang in Lower Taway village, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, is currently assigned as augmentation personnel at ZCPO’s Station 11.

The suspect was tagged as a High Value Individual, according to Lorenzo.

He said seized from the suspect were some five grams of suspected shabu with an estimated worth of P34,000, a motorcycle, 13 pieces of P1,000 bills as boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill as marked money, and other personal belongings.

The suspect was detained at the ZCPO’s Station 10 while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him.

Lorenzo said the anti-drug operation was part of the PNP’s ongoing Intensified Cleanliness Policy aimed at penalizing erring members of the organization defying strict directives and other policies.

Lorenzo urged the public to continue to support the government's nation-building efforts, particularly our battle against illegal drugs and criminality and to report any illegal activities in the area of responsibility to the nearest station. (SunStar Zamboanga)
