THE Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) on Monday, June 6, 2022, installed an officer who saw action during the 2017 Marawi siege as the new chief of ZCPO Station 11.

Police Major Francis Briones was installed as the new ZCPO Station 11 chief in a simple ceremony by Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, ZCPO director.

Briones replaced Police Major Chester Natividad, who was assigned as the new chief of the City Traffic Enforcement Unit (CTEU).

Briones, as ZCPO Station 11 chief, has jurisdiction over 15 villages in the city proper including the central business district.

“I will exert my best efforts to meet what is expected of me as the new Station 11 chief of ZCPO,” Briones said.

Lorenzo said he trust that Briones can handle the peace and security of the city proper.

Briones’ stint in Marawi at the height of the siege in 2017 and his previous sensitive assignments serve as his credentials to be assigned as the new ZCPO Station 11 chief.

Aside from Marawi siege, Briones was previously assigned with the Regional Intelligence Unit-9, Philippine Center for Transnational Crime, intelligence officer of Tawi-Tawi Provincial Police Office and intelligence chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO) Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

Meanwhile, Natividad, as the CTEU chief, will have jurisdiction over the entire city as far as traffic management and enforcement is concern.

Natividad, who has served as the ZCPO Station 11 chief for one year and six months, replaced Police Lieutenant Colonel Raymond Sanson, who was assigned to a higher position. (SunStar Zamboanga)
