AN elusive drug suspect and a member of a drug-robbery group was apprehended in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Singcang-Airport at about Wednesday morning, June 8.

Major Joerey Puerto, commander of Police Station 8, said Alvin Martines, 26, alias "Spiderman," of Purok Maanyag in the city's Barangay Alijis used to be part of the Cuadra group involved in house robbery incidents and selling of illegal drugs.

In fact, Martinez was released from jail in December 2021 and has a string of robbery and drug charges, Puerto said.

He said Martinez got his moniker because the latter would be in charge of scaling through the walls of residences and would enter through windows before opening the locked doors so his companions could come in.

Puerto added that they will check if Martinez has pending arrest warrants.

During his arrest yesterday, the suspect yielded five sachets of the banned substance weighing 20 grams valued at P136,000, police records showed.

Aside from the contraband, the police also confiscated a .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunition from Martinez, Puerto said.

Meanwhile, Rogil Potion, 36, of Purok Mangingisda at Barangay Guinhalaran in Silay City, Negros Occidental was arrested at his residence Tuesday evening, June 7.

Silay City Police chief Colonel Robert Petate said they recovered nine sachets of suspected shabu worth P47,000 and several drug paraphernalia from the suspect.

Both will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
