Pangan: Doubts about the one in charge

PRESIDENT BBM or Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr., should be his own man and should rule by his own standards and not be influenced by others close to him.

The affairs of the state are complicated and thought-provoking and need focus and attention to set them right.

Already, the hand of Senator Maria Imelda Josefa or Imee Marcos is seen waving the baton for her younger brother the President to follow as in the designation of the inauguration site, the Luneta (or Rizal or Quirino) grandstand, also the site where their dictator father, the late President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, Sr., had his inauguration and other important events.

For Imee, the Luneta grandstand, site of her brother's inauguration will perpetuate the memories related to the Marcoses and highlight them. By the way, the National Museum might be the site of the inauguration. Well...

The new administration of President Marcos, Jr., promises new, big things bringing new hopes to the people.

He should govern by his own rules and discretion and not be influenced by his feisty senator sister, otherwise his good intentions for this country would go to waste and finally be lumped together with the ineffective presidents before him.

All his nominees for his cabinet have grandiose plans at the beginning of their terms but later turn out as comedians full of shortcomings, bloopers and bad reputation.

Let us take note that during the campaign period, President BBM had good plans for our country and its people.

Now that he has been proclaimed and will assume office come July 1, 2022, we hope that he will not forget or ignore all of his good plans.

The Commission on Elections still has to address the issue of malfunctioning VCMs (thousands of them). It has been reported that it needs huge funds (about P6-P7 billion) to have them repaired or replaced with good ones. The amount is mind-boggling and it is not even sure these machines would function very well for the next election. Why, Comelec, are you so helpless?
