Viray: Co-terminous

I AM a co-terminous employee. I served as long as the appointing official served. My Mayor opted to retire from politics so after June 30, 2022, he steps down from office. Since my appointment expires the moment he steps down, then I find myself no longer the City Administrator of the City of San Fernando.

What does it feel to be retiring? Fulfilled. I am satisfied that my boss accomplished so much as the City Mayor for the last 9 years.

The education of the young people received priority in the Edsa administration. Starting at the tail end of the tape in 2013, the City’s schools climbed themselves to the number one position in 2022. Not all leaders are like Edwin who believed and invested much in education.

Floods are no longer a commonplace in the City. Being an engineer, Edsa made some progress in forestalling the onset of excess waters.

There is no Chief Executive of the City who realized the housing units for government employees. We have allocated several units ready for occupancy in BN Barangay Panipuan.

The Heroes Hall pales in comparison to the Civic Center in Del Rosario. Visit the Center and you will be impressed with the state-of-the-art facilities. This will house not only the traffic emergency responses but also serves as the future of San Fernando. This is located in higher grounds so this is a reserved office for the existing ones in the City proper.

The Paskuhan Village building stands proud and imposing. This is the Center for lanterns – giant and small ones. This is the center of tourism activity, made possible by the efforts of Mayor Edsa.

The public market was completed and inaugurated on May 30. No Mayor dared to demolish and reconstruct the public market. It’s only Edsa who exercised the political will, despite all odds, to rebuild the market.

I am doubly proud to claim that I am part of history as we unveil the marker – “Completed thru the efforts of Mayor Edwin D. Santiago together with City Administrator Atty. Atlee T. Viray.”

Fulfilled!
