Zamboanga City Government builds crematorium, columbarium

THE local government on Zamboanga City is undertaking some P39.8 million projects at the city-owned and operated cemetery in Mampang village, Zamboanga City.

These include the construction of the P29.9-million crematorium and P9.9-million columbarium.

The crematorium is the venue for the cremation of the dead while the columbarium is intended to provide an ideal sanctuary or a peaceful resting place for the departed.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the City Columbarium will house 1,320 cubicles or niches with a capacity of three urns per cubicle.

Salazar inspected the two projects on Thursday, June 9, to see the work progress.

She earlier ordered the concerned agencies to fast track the implementation of the projects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
