I HAVE been informed that Mabalacat City is one of the few local government units (LGUs) awarded in the national search for GAWAD EDUKAMPYON for LGUs implementing the Early Childhood Care and Development Program-Component Cities.

Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo and Gender and Development Officer Charlo Costales received the award at Novotel Manila on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Likewise, the Mabalacat City Rural Health Units (RHUs) were recognized as the first Philhealth-accredited Konsulta providers in Central Luzon with Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia G. Pineda, Mr. Walter Bacareza and DOH-Central Luzon Director Dr. Corazon Flores awarding the certificates of accreditation to the four rural health units of Mabalacat City.

City Health Office (CHO) chief Dr. Ma. Clara Aquino, RHPs Dr. Rosemarie Anne Manalo-Liong, Dr. Earl Kim de Leon, Dr. Mary Ann Tolentino and Dr. Rodel Tan attended the awarding and received the certificates.

Topping these awards in the eligibility of the Mabalacat City government's eligibility to receive for 2021 reckoning the Seal of Good Local Governance.

In process of completing the requirements of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the City Government aims to be a hall of famer as it has received the much-coveted award for more than three years in a row, proof that it performs excellently in the fields like youth development, disaster preparedness and social protection and sensitivity.

Mayor Garbo and his team leave no stone unturned in pursuit of good, proactive and effective governance.

This year and some five years later, talks and issues will center on President BBM, his cabinet and the whole administrative team.

Already, he has unveiled his admin's priority programs and projects for his first full-year budget geared toward economic reconstruction.

He thus ordered incoming Budget Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman to make sure his priorities be secure in the 2023 National Expenditure Program. The priority areas, according to BBM shall include agricultural and food security, climate change adaptation, economic recovery, as well as improved healthcare and education.

Other priority areas range from enhanced infrastructure projects, including digital infrastructure and utilization of renewable energy sources.

There are other sectors needing focus such as tourism and jobs creation, more particularly the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who remit substantial amounts to the country to keep its economy robust and afloat.

I can only sympathize with our American brothers who suffer daily due to unabated shootings, for no reason at all! In all instances, the shooters were neutralized by the authorities. Good for them (the shooters, that is) but grave sorrow for the victims.
