OUTGOING Vice President Leni Robredo said she is hopeful that her successor, Outgoing Davao City Mayor and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio will be continuing the projects that her office had started.

"Hopefully, magiging mas smooth 'yung transition, at 'yung mga tulong sa mga pangangailangan na binigay natin (We are hoping there will be a smooth transition, and the help to those who are in need) over the past six years, sana ituloy pa rin ng bagong administrasyon (would still be continuned by the new administration)," Robredo said in a radio interview on Sunday morning, June 12 in RMN DZXL 558 kHz.

The vice president said the transition meeting between her camp and Duterte-Carpio's camp had been smooth.

"Nagkaroon na ng several na transition meetings. Okay naman (There have already been several transition meetings. It turned out okay),” she said, adding that the incoming team has been receptive.

Robredo explained that past Office of the Vice President (OVPs) have had medical assistance programs, which is why she believes that the medical efforts her office began will be continued by her successor.

“Tingin ko naman to a large extent itutuloy pa din. Siguro ‘yung mas kwestyon lang ‘yung mga programang hindi institutional, kasi marami kaming inumpisahan na programa na hindi talaga siya bahagi ng OVP (I think to a large extent it will continue. Maybe the more questionable are the non -institutional programs, because we have started many programs that are not really part of the OVP),” said Robredo.

After her term ends, Robredo is set to institutionalize her non-governmental organization (NGO) Angat Buhay, a project she started under the OVP. The NGO aims to establish the widest volunteer network in the country, helping the marginalized and the vulnerable.

Robredo along with her chief-of-staff Undersecretary Philip Dy welcomed the transition team of Duterte-Carpio at the Quezon City Reception House on June 3.

The Davao mayor's team was led by City Administrator Lawyer Zuleika Lopez and Human Resources and Management Office (HRMO) Head Lemuel Ortonio.

Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio said on Monday, June 13, that a face-to-face meeting with Robredo is not included in her schedule.

In an ambush interview right after the celebration of the 124th Philippine Independence at Davao City Hall Complex on Sunday morning, the outgoing mayor said her office will still be occupying the Reception House.

She previously announced that she would establish satellite branches of the OVP in Davao City, in Davao Region, and some parts of the country.

The satellite office would be an avenue for individuals who seek assistance.

The mayor said she already met with various satellite leaders, outsourced from different parallel groups supporting her during the campaign.

Duterte-Carpio said her office had already set up six offices in undisclosed areas, which she hoped would start operating in the first week of July this year.

"We'll start with six, and then tan-awon namo kung kinahanglan pa mi mag-abli pa og mas daghan (and we will assess if there is a need to open more satellite offices)," she said. RGL
