THE transition teams of Bacolod City mayor-elect Alfredo Benitez and outgoing Mayor Evelio Leonardia will meet next week, an official said.
Reelected Bacolod Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya, who leads Benitez’s transition team, said yesterday, June 13, that they received a communication from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last week regarding on their final schedule with the transition team of the present administration and it will be held on June 22.
"This is the response of the DILG on the letter of mayor-elect Benitez on May 31, 2022 regarding the transition with the present administration," he said.
He added that there's an existing memorandum from the DILG that should be followed by the present administration during the transition meeting such as the financial status of the city, physical properties owned by the city, the status of the job order workers, and priorities programs set forth, manpower, among others.
Gasataya stressed that the number one objective of any transition team is to ensure a smooth, peaceful and orderly turnover with the outgoing administration.
Leonardia said that City Administrator Edward Joseph Cuansing and Secretary to the Mayor Victoria Parrenas are in-charge of their transition team and they are in touch with the other side.
The mayor also expects a smooth transition with the incoming administration.
DILG-Bacolod Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag earlier said that they will supervise the transition teams of Leonardia and Benitez.*
