IN a bid to assist in Davao City’s economic growth and development with the aim to spark

business innovation and to establish rapport with public and private entities, an auditing and business services firm opens an office here.

Isla Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines’ new office, which will officially be inaugurated today, June 14, at Davao Finance Center 8F, 116 W Aquino St, Agdao, is committed to extend audit and

assurance, tax, and advisory services to the highest quality standards.

“As a Big Four firm, our business services go beyond audit and assurance — we cover taxation, deals and business advisory services. For example, we help companies expand through capital raising, enter alliances and joint ventures, and comply with tax and regulatory requirements,” Chairman and Senior Partner Roderick Danao said in an online interview.

He added, “We’ve been delivering sustainable solutions to clients’ complex taxation issues and other organizational matters. All these are aligned with our strategy called ‘The New Equation’, which is focused on helping build trust and deliver sustained outcomes.”

Danao also cited that Davao City has the ingredients of what a global city can be like.

“Davao City is agile in integrating technology with existing local culture and multicultural in identity. With these unique assets, coupled with the economic growth prospects in the region, we are confident in establishing our presence in this center of Mindanao commerce and trade,” he said.

The firm actively participates in professional, public and private sector organizations and in public forums involving taxation, investment incentives, mergers and acquisitions, advocacy issues, corporate governance and financial reporting.

VisMin Business Leader and Assurance Managing Partner Aldie Garcia said they seek to initially employ 100 PwC professionals here.

“As of today, we have 30 employees designated in Davao City,” he said, adding that branching out in Davao means to also spur local employment.

“As our firm marks its 100th anniversary this month, we continue to expand and look forward to growing a team of skilled and talented individuals,” he said.

The company, whose main office is at the Makati Central Business District in Metro Manila, serves clients that include government agencies, and leading corporations, both local and foreign, across different industries. CEA
