THE Negros Occidental Police Wives Association Inc. (Nopwai) marked its fourth founding anniversary on June 12, 2022, in a celebration held at the Kapanalig Hall, Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.

Colonel Leo Pamittan, acting director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson Major Sherlock Gabana representing City Police Director Thomas Joseph Martir, incoming Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez, Officers' Ladies Club president Lizette Mansueto and Nopwai president Mary Joy Muya graced the occasion.

"Behind Nocppo's success being the vanguard of peace is dedicated and service-oriented personnel whose behind him is a woman he loves most -- his wife," Pamittan said.

He said he has always acknowledged the great contribution of the “spouses of our personnel, especially on how he renders his duty, which in turn helps Noccpo perform its mandates.”

Pamittan also said that common knowledge tells us that a well-rounded and excellent public servant comes from a strong and happy family, adding that in contrast, personnel who often perform poorly or are worst involved with illegal activities come from problematic and chaotic family life.

"We know that the PNP service nowadays is far different than decades ago, since before, everything was a lot simpler but now the police service is as complex as it gets," the official said.

Pamittan added that primarily because they do not want to be left behind and most especially because we only want to deliver what's best for our people we have sworn to serve and protect.

Now, Pamittan stressed, that much is expected of them, which means more pressures, challenges, stresses, undertakings, and tasks.

Surely, Nocppo men will need every comfort, support, care, understanding, and most especially love they get from their better half.

He urged the wives to fuel their husband's drive for excellence in work, service to their fellowmen, and his quest for career growth and advancement.

"Push them forward and help them move away from mediocrity and latency so they may use their full potential to become excellent policemen," Pamittan said.

Gabana also echoed a similar message to the wives of policemen, saying "understand us because men in uniform are prone to trials as we face high public expectations in the performance of our duties and responsibilities, and please, when your husband goes home, give him your sweetest smile because that can help ease the stresses that we face every day."

He urged the policemen's wives, that if their husband goes home a bit intoxicated, they should not be welcomed with anger but with your love and be your husband's best friend.

"Be our multi-vitamins that every husband could say, so we can say, you complete me," Gabana said, as he stressed that they are not perfect, but having a wife who is loving and caring, those conditions set them to perfection.

For his part, Benitez congratulated all the policemen's wives who celebrated their association's 4th founding anniversary.

He said those policemen who live in Bacolod and still do not own a house is working on a program for it that the association may avail once implemented.

The Public Housing Project of his administration is still in the planning stage, where he has already sat down with the Jolly Home Foundation and his fellow incoming and re-elected Bacolod City officials.

Meanwhile, Mansueto is also equally congratulating her fellows on the occasion of their 4th founding anniversary.

She joined the association officers and members render a dance number that adds fun to the celebration. There were also some officers who rendered a song number during the program.
