Teacher dies in road mishap

A retired teacher died after he was side-swiped by a car reportedly being driven by a lawyer along La Salle Avenue in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City past 9 p.m., June 16.

Major Ritchie Gohee, commander of Police Station 4, said yesterday, June 17, that Aquilino Cambelisa Jr., 63, of Purok Bulak in the city’s Barangay Mandalagan.

Investigation showed that the victim was crossing the street while vehicle driven by lawyer Roger Jalandoon, of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental was heading east when the accident happened.

Gohee said that Cambelisa was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but he did not survive

He said that Jalandoon stopped to check on the victim but did not wait for the traffic investigators to arrive.

Gohee added that lawyer Archie Baribar, who is Jalando-on’s law firm partner, already went to their police station and waited for the victim’s family for possible settlement.
